About Cara

Cara Lynn Shultz’s love of supernatural writing began when she was 7 and wrote a play about ghosts, which she and her friends acted out on her grandparents’ porch. Since then, her work has appeared in Teen People, Alternative Press, Stuff, InStyle, Us Weekly, The Guardian UK and countless posts on Facebook and Twitter. She is a proud graduate of Fordham University and is currently a senior editor at PEOPLE.com. Cara lives in her native New York City with her husband, tuxedo cat and 8 million other people. Spellbound is her first novel.

Hi my name is Lora Wiedenheft.
I am a reviewer and a fight illiteracy advocate .I wanted to know if can I get on your mailing list to send books for review. We need updated books so desperately. I review books and then donate to the Middletown High School library. I am interested in your book Spellbound for our school library. Arcs are ok. Any YA books you can send for review would be awesome. We really could use your book in our library. I will review before I donate. I live in a low income community and we are struggling to get books in our high school. I wanted to know if you can donate a set of your books (hardcover if you have them) (that way they last for years), even paperback is greatly appeciated.It means so much to them to get these books. We are low income city and most parents cant afford new books right now. We used to have a steel mill her and they packed up and left. Causing a lot of job loss. The school levy then failed. I’m not to proud to ask,
Can you please help us out.

Sorry, I sound sort of weird but how did you come up with your characters? I just wanted to know why Brendan has facebook and twitter hehe I <3 BRENDAN!!!!!! Are they real people? Or were the accounts just created for the characters? I am sooo excited for the next book! Cant wait to read more of Emma and Brendan!! Thanks so much for writing this book!!

Oh My Gosh! I haven’t even finished reading Spellboud yet, but PLEASE tell me you are planning on writing more novels!!
I started Spellbound this morning (it’s 3 in the afternoon now), and I’m already over half way through. I can’t wait to finish it, but I never want it to end!!!

Hello!

I bought your book today and came home to get lost if your book world! I started it and loved it from the beginning… but now I’m having trouble! The book is literally falling apart in my hands as I’m trying to read it! It’s making it so frustrating to get through… but it’s so hard to put down! I even took it make to the store to exchange it and they wont allow me to… I gotta re-buy it but don’t got the money right now so I’m just trying to hold it together so that I can get through the book!

Any book plans for the future?

I just finished Spellbound, I loved it! I love supernatural things and I love romance! Have you sold the rights of the book to be made into made into a movie. I plan on playing Emma or Ashley, but you have to sell the rights first, or i’ll being playing them in my living room.

oh my what a truly nice read and i truly enjoyed the story. Being 46 and more than to old for the teen books i can honestly say that this is one of the nicest books i have read that is designed to attract the younger readers. About 10 years ago when my daughter was 13 and wanted to start reading these books written for teenagers i felt the need to see what she would be reading and so i read them first then allowed her to read them. lol I still continue to be drawn to the teen section of the book store all these years later and i have to say that “Spellbound” is one of the nicest books i have read in long time. Can’t wait for the sequel for sure and now i pass my book on to another lil gal just up the street who like my daughter loves a good read, and if she has no idea what a truly nice young man should be she won’t have doubt after she meets your character Brendan. I hope my sons turn out half as nice as your young man in this book. signed Daelene (Just a nosey mom lol)

Hi Cara, I just finished Spellbound last night. It was soooo good, I even had a dream about it lol
I also read your book “My Soul to Take” very long ago ago and I lost it while I was just getting to the end! I was soo sad and I tottaly forgot the books name. Then I read Spellbound and came on your website and found those books. Im so excited to read all of them now!
I would appreciate it soo much if you just answered one question. Is spellcaster going to be in Emma’s point of view or Angelique’s? And what exactly is “The Things I Deal With for Friends”? Is it a sneak peak of your second novel or just an extra to add on to the book Spellbound?

  Hi Saira, Thanks so much! I’m so happy you enjoyed it! My Soul to Take is actually by Rachel Vincent—I’m a huge fan of that series, Soul Screamers. To answer your question, Spellcaster is mostly from Emma’s point of view, but there are a few bits from Angelique’s perspective.

Hello~
I’m not normally one for romance. Especially not “supernatural romance”, as a genre.
However I am reading Spellbound right now (yes, I’m not even finished) and I had to come and say some praise.
This book is delightful, and I full-heartedly endorse the idea of making it into a movie.
It’d be nice to portray a somewhat healthier relationship on the big screen for once.

So, thanks for this good book, I’m going to finish reading now.

  Hi Lizzy! Thanks so much! Right now there aren’t any plans for another Brendan and Emma book but I just wrapped up the first book of a new trilogy. When that comes out, I’m sure I’ll be doing signings, so I’ll be sure to post those
